Chef Courier Foundations introduces students to Chef’s powerful new job orchestration tool, designed to simplify and streamline complex operational tasks across diverse infrastructure. In this course, learners will explore how job orchestration reduces manual effort, eliminates repetitive work, and ensures consistency by automating multi-step processes across both Linux and Windows systems. With Courier, teams can coordinate actions like patching, provisioning, and configuration updates at scale—all from a central, unified interface. This foundations-level course equips students with the essential skills to create, manage, and schedule Courier jobs, accelerating their ability to deliver reliable, repeatable automation in real-world environments.

- Introduction to the Chef 360 platform
- Overview of Chef Courier and its role in the Chef ecosystem
- Understanding job orchestration and its benefits
- Creating, managing, and scheduling Courier jobs
- Enrolling, organizing, and targeting nodes with Node Management
- Setting up and using a workstation with Chef 360
- Working with both Linux and Windows nodes
- Real-world use cases for job orchestration
Workstation requirements:
You will need a workstation with the ability to remotely access a Windows node. The Windows node will provide access to all other nodes in the lab environment.
